Descriptive and Imaginative Articles
Please watch the following video. You can take notes as you watch, but only watch it ONE time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXOrbo6DX9U
Once you finish the 1 minute video, do not watch it again, go to your blog and tell me the story that you just observed. You should be able to complete this in about a paragraph (3-4 sentences).
Then you can watch the video again. This time I want you to carefully come up with answers to the following, very important questions:
Who
What
Where
When
Why
How
Remember if this was the real world, all of the above information would be FACTUAL and you would have to verify all your information. But for this assignment, you can make up the information.
As you watch the video, and yes you can watch it multiple times as needed, take a few more notes. Try to come up with strong descriptive words to describe what you see. The scene changes quickly and often, so pause if you need to catch up on notes.
Here is an example of some descriptions you might use:
In the first scene, there is a car driving on a road. What else do you notice? The weather (what fact about the car helps you determine with weather?), the shape of the road, where is the road located (in a city? near the ocean? in a forest?), etc.
Once you make some new notes and come up with the 5W's and 1H, write the story again, this time be as factual as you can (remember you get to make up some things, but be careful and use as many facts as you can).
Here is one hint - do we really, really know who the main character is? Many people assume he is a former boyfriend of the bride, but do we REALLY know? Be careful telling the story - stick to the facts that you can see and don't assume anything.
